Glamping: where outdoor adventure meets modern luxury. These semi-permanent structures place a premium on space and comfort, making for the most pleasant night sleep you’ll find away from your own bed. Add to that affordability, portability, durability, and endless customization options, and wall tents make the perfect shelter for all your glamping needs.
Essential Features of a Great Canvas Glamping Tent
There are several considerations when choosing a wall tent for glamping. Make sure you’re picking the right glamping tent for your specific needs based on durability, size, customization, ventilation, and more. Here are the six key features you should keep in mind:
Durability
A semi-permanent tent house needs to last year after year and withstand a range of elements. Especially important if you’re considering a glamping business like rentals or Airbnb, Diamond Brand Gear wall tents are built to last – for an average of five years. Our galvanized steel frames are built to handle the most punishing of glamping conditions. Furthermore, we’ve triple reinforced the corners of our frames, reinforced the ridge lines and sealed the roof seams, protecting the spots most prone to wear and tear.
Size
One size doesn’t fit all. Are you looking for a glamping tent to accommodate a couple or an entire family? Be sure to check for tent dimension options and designs when researching glamping tents so you know your tent will fit your specific needs. Our classic wall tents come in five standard sizes. Choose among a smaller 7’ x 8’10”, a mammoth 12’ x 16’ or a happy medium in between. We even allow you to order a custom size if you don’t see one that fits your needs.
Custom Options
Glamping is all about the design details. At Diamond Brand Gear we pride ourselves in prioritizing customization and personalization. Stay contemporary with a shelter containing windows for ventilation or go old school with a shelter comprising roll up sides. Further customize your choice with our many accessories: from storage bags, removable screen doors, rain and shade flys, to gear lofts, tent stake sets, and rope kit with accessories.
Multi-Season Performance
Adventure doesn’t have a season, and neither should glamping. If you’re planning on offering a glamping experience year-round, make sure your tents can withstand conditions year-round. Look for canvases that are fire retardant, mildew resistant, UV resistant, and water resistant, so glampers can sleep comfortably any time of the year. And as an extra precaution, look for materials that are easily repairable and replaceable. After all, it’s better to replace a few materials than a whole tent.
Ventilation
Glamping is all about comfort, and for that, ventilation is key. Keep the adventure and the breeze flowing. Our 13-ounce polyester/cotton canvas is both durable and breathable. The two-door entry not only provides easy access to your shelter, but allows for a generous airflow. We also added internal and external door closures, which moonlight as tie backs for even greater ventilation.

Wall Tents vs. Other Glamping Options
Wall tents aren’t the only glamping option on the market. From yurts to tipis to campers and more, there is a range of modern day shelters to choose from. Know which luxury glamping shelter is right for your specific needs.
Wall Tent Vs. Yurt
Inspired by Turkish and Mongolian nomads, modern day yurts are round structures supported by lattice walls and radial rafters. Yurts’ circular shape allow wind to easily blow around the structures, rather than push against flat walls. Though traditional yurts were covered in felt and animal skins, modern day yurts are typically covered in weatherproofed materials. More enclosed than wall tents, yurts are a popular option among those looking to emphasize the “glam” in “glamping.” However, as Yurts can run upward of $15,000, wall tents are the more affordable option.
Wall Tent Vs. Tipi
First used by indigenous people of the Plains, modern day tipis are cone-shaped structures supported by tilted lodge poles. Similar to yurts, tipis’ circular shape allow wind to easily blow around the structures, rather than push against flat walls. Though traditional tipis were also covered in felt and animal skins, modern day tipis are often covered in canvas. Even less enclosed than wall tents, tipis are on the opposite end of the glamping shelter spectrum than yurts. What tipis lack in space and durability, they make up for in convenience and portability. The decision between wall tents and tipis is really about the design aesthetic you’re after.
Wall Tent Vs. Camper
Here the question is simple: do you want your glamping shelter to move or not? And how much do you want to spend? However, though the convenience of having electricity and other amenities as you travel may be nice, your glamping experiences will be restricted to where you can park your home-on-the-go. If looking for flexibility in where you can get your glamp on, or if you’re on a budget, it’s best to look at one of the other options.
How to Build Your Own Glamping Tent
As makers, we know the satisfaction of building something with your own two hands. We love the act of taking raw materials and transforming them into a finished product. That’s why we give you the option of building your own wall tent, with a more minimal and less permanent wooden frame. We provide you with all the necessary tools (down to the drill bit) and instructions (supported by videos). You provide the can-do attitude and elbow grease.
